February 11, 2024
Thursday, February 8, the Nevada Republican Party held its Presidential Caucus. This Caucus was the most beautiful display of patriotism I have seen at a local level in my lifetime. When we started the preparations for the Carson City Caucus, long-time Republicans of Carson explained that we would be fortunate to have five hundred or six hundred people participate.
Fortunately, there were early indications we would need to secure at least two locations for this Caucus. The phones at headquarters rang constantly for almost two months, with people calling to try to understand the process. Once the State Presidential Primary sample ballot arrived to our voters, people were constantly in an uproar over why President Trump’s name was not on the ballot. Most callers asked why, and if we could vote for Donald Trump. Thanks to our wonderful volunteers, we had 2 to 3 people in the office daily to take calls, answer questions, and explain where the voters would Caucuse. Seeing the people line up to cast their ballots at 3 p.m. was incredible.
At the Casino Fandango, people lined up all through the Casino, standing in line for over an hour to vote. At the Plaza Hotel Event Center, people stood for over two hours waiting to vote in the cold and snow. Casino Fandango’s and the Plaza Hotel Event Center’s staff were fantastic, helping with crowd control. The most important thing I want to say to the public is that we are in unchartered waters; this is new patriotism, a rebirth. Thanks for being very patient. We must continue to be involved and keep this momentum going forward to the general election in November. Every Republican has to vote; if you do, we save our country. Carson City Caucus Total Vote: Trump – 1,918; Binkley – 33, total count – 1951. This is one of the most significant numbers of people to partake in a Caucus in Carson City. Thank you to everyone who participated, Volunteers and Voters; you made the Caucus an epic success.Â
If you are a Carson City Republican Resident and would like to be a delegate for the County Convention being held on March 16, please stop by and complete the form. Usually, people would have signed up the night of the Caucus, but the enthusiasm for casting ballots overshadowed the Precinct Meeting. The State Convention will be held on May 3 and 4 in South Shore, Lake Tahoe, at the new Sky-Blue Convention Center. On Friday afternoons, we have a Rural Caucus Meeting for all the Northern counties. Saturday, the State meeting begins very early and lasts all day. For those of you who are interested in getting involved, sign up as a Delegate; the State Meeting is very interesting. You must be a Carson City Republican to attend our County Convention.

What is next for the Carson City Republican Party? Our Annual Lincoln Day Dinner will be held on March 2nd at the Casino Fandango from 5 to 9 p.m. Our exceptional Keynote Speaker is   Co-Chairman of the RNC, Drew McKissick. Chairman McKissick is also the Republican Chairman of South Carolina and has written several books on developing Grassroots organizations. We will have an hour VIP reception from 4 to 5 with Drew. We have arranged to have Lincoln, our elephant, with a photo booth for additional fun.  This is our largest fundraiser of the year; plan to attend and enjoy a fabulous dinner, an outstanding speaker, and an exciting live auction. You may purchase tickets at our 1971 California Street office on our website and Eventbrite.Â
This Election Cycle, we have decided to hold an Open House at our office on California Street on Wednesday afternoons from 4 to 6 p.m. for all candidates to stop by and meet with our members and the public. You will meet our candidates vying for all positions, city, state, and national.  We will start these meet-and-greets on April 17th. Please look forward to hearing more information on these events.
Last year, the CCRP held the first Alternative School Expo. We will have another one on April 13 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Carson City Senior Center. We are renaming our event as A Better Education Expo. The Republican Party is concerned for our students; our state is ranked between 43 and 49 in our country for the quality of education in Public Schools (now called government schools).  We must help parents and grandparents understand their options here in Carson City. Please share this information with family and friends. The event will have numerous representatives from school options for parents to visit at the school's booths. We will also have people representing various camps that parents may utilize this summer. We need you to share this vital information with families; we need to do better to educate our future generation.Â
Thank you for your continued support. We need every Republican to vote in the Primary and General Election, no sitting out. We will have a ballot box at the headquarters for the Primary in June and for the General Election.Â
God Bless America, Nevada, Carson City and You.Â
Your Chairman, Susan Ruch
