CHAIR'S CORNER

We are only weeks away from the most important election of our time. We need all Republicans to vote. What are some of the issues that are most important to people? I constantly hear the drums beating; people worry about food and the prices that all American families pay. But everywhere I go, people seem to be frantic over data centers. I don't know much about data centers, but I am always looking for the truth. We all know the Democratic Party has no platform for this midterm election. The Democrats are famous for creating a villain to create fear in the public and a distraction from the real issues that affect all of us. We have several factions at work right now that, as educated voters, we must consider. The three movements in this country promoting the undercurrent of the perils of “data centers” are the Luddites, the Isolationists, and the Chinese. What is frightening is that most of us don't fully understand how data centers work or what the truth is.

First, let's look at the Chinese motives. China has thousands of workers in huge buildings creating bots, software programs that run automated tasks on the internet. There are mainly 4 types of bots: Chatbot Programs that talk with users; web crawlers that scan and index webpages; Social Media Bots that post content, share news, or send spam; and malicious bots, which are programs designed to steal data, spread viruses, or crash websites. The Chinese have workers spending every day, all day long, designing these bots. Recently, I learned that the Chinese are using these bots to send out false information on Data Centers over our social media. Why would they want to do this? There are two obvious reasons: first, to create a huge distraction during our very important election, and second, to lead the way in AI.

Then there are the Luddites. The term comes from 19th-century English Textile workers who protested the Industrial Revolution from 1811-1816. Modern Neo-Luddites are actively fighting generative AI through a mix of labor strikes, legal battles, public activism, and direct physical disruption. Like the original 19th-century weavers, these critics are not necessarily against the technology itself—they are fighting job displacement, data exploitation, and corporate control. How are they organizing? The Hollywood Strikes fought to prevent studios from using AI to replicate actors’ voices and to block human writers. White-Collar Sabotage: Office workers are engaging in “Quiet Sabotage” or “Tokenmaxxing,” deliberately overusing the system or software to inflate the company's tech bills and highlight the inefficiencies of replacing human judgment. The Luddites are also targeting data centers and political resistance by channeling skepticism and proposing moratoriums on data centers to force a reevaluation of AI’s environmental toll. This is causing me to rethink my

opinion on Data Centers. We are inundated with constant information, and how do we

know what is true and what is correct?

Lastly, when we look at the isolationists who primarily seem to me, they are people who do not know all the facts; they spread hysteria about societal downfall for allowing Data Centers to be built in your neighborhood. They spread rumors of high energy demand, water overuse, noise pollution, and skepticism about the benefits of having a data center in your county. Fear of the unknown also fuels concerns that artificial intelligence is unregulated and that the economic future is unclear. Throughout history, we have feared the changes brought by the Industrial Revolution, the digital revolution, and the information revolution.

I want all Rural citizens, including myself, to be educated about data centers. The

Carson City Republican Party has invited Clay Mitchell, Story County Commissioner,

to speak with us about this hot topic. Clay is making it his mission to understand Data

Centers and the pros and cons. The commissioner will speak on this subject in

Carson City on September 21, in the Ormsby Room of the Sheriff ’s Office, 911 E. Musser

St., Carson City, NV, to share information with us. He recently gave a very informative

talk at one of the Women’s groups in Minden. I'm excited to offer this informative

meeting to everyone. We will meet from 4 PM to 6 PM in the Ormsby Room, with time

for questions. Light snacks will be available. Please RSVP at 775 841-1800 so we have

enough snacks for everyone.

November 3rd is Election Day, and we need all of you to vote straight RED. This election is one of the most important elections of our time. We must stand up against Communism, which is taking hold of the Democratic Party. We must remember our President’s words,” Fight, fight, fight, and fight we must. We have strong conservative Republican candidates that are running for National, state, and local offices. Please vote for all the suggested candidates. If you would like to meet several of our candidates, there will be a Meet and Greet with Candidates at Cellar 8 on Sunday, September 6, from 4 to 6 PM. If you would like to know who will be there, check our website Sunday Morning; we will list them as soon as I know who is coming. Unfortunately, the Governor will not be there because an emergency has come up. Still, I believe David Flippo, Andy Matthews, Adrianne Guzman, Jim Marchant, Lt. Governor Stavros Anthony, and more will be there.

Two key questions are on our Ballot this cycle -

Question 6: Vote NO! Question 6 allows for a full-term baby to be aborted. This amendment to the Constitution takes away all Parental rights to know if a young girl is having an abortion. Any medical professional may perform an abortion (your dental hygienist, Pharmacists, EMTs) or supply chemical abortion pills. The bill is a pedophile’s dream come true. If for no other reason to go to the polls, we must protect young girls. Vote NO to protect your granddaughters, daughters, and young girls from being victimized.

Question 7: Vote Yes! Question 7 requires Nevada to have voter ID. If this passes, we will require Voter ID in the 2028 election, and it will be codified in our Constitution. If you have no other reason to go to the polls, vote Yes for Voter ID. This is a Yes Vote.

Note: When you receive your ballot, you will not see questions 1 through 5, so you are not missing any information or other questions.

If you want to help us reach our 80% turnout goal for this election in Carson City, please stop by our office to sign up to volunteer. We are mailing postcards to low-propensity voters and need many people to handwrite cards, either at our office or at home. We also need phone bankers and door knockers. Our office is buzzing with excitement, and if you want to be part of this 2026 Victory, come to 1971 California St. and sign up to volunteer. On September 12th, Turning Point Action will hold Super Chase, starting at our office on California St. Ethan Nelson of Turning Point Action will lead training on door knocking and other ways to reach voters. Turning Point is having a food truck, one of our Favorites, Carson Barbeque, for lunch for those who participate as a reward for our hard work. If you don’t want to walk, you are welcome to stay and write postcards or make phone calls. Please call 775 841-1800 to sign up; we want to be sure there is enough food.
